TED Talk Julie Burstein: 4 lessons in creativity

In this video, I've learned things that we need to embrace in creativity. We need to be open and embrace the experience that we have around us because it might change us. Explore whatever we can and from there we dare to challenge ourselves to find something interesting. Apart from that, we also need to push our limits of what we can do and sometimes we can't. We have to stand in between of what we can see in this world and what we hope for. We also have to see directly and understand rejections, heartbreaks, war and death in order to create something. In life, we always have the cycle of creation and destruction whereby we create something and then destroys it and picking up new pieces to invent something new.

The egg experiment

Making the structure for our egg.

The starting of the structure.

The structure slowly rise.

It's halfway done!

This was the result after our egg was being dropped. It was saved!

This week, our class have to do an egg experiment. We have to bring our own materials and then think of a way to save the egg from cracking after being dropped. My group and I decided to make like a pyramid structure and then put the cup with the egg in it, in between the structure. As we went to drop the egg, I saw other groups strategy of saving the egg from cracking. Many different kinds of strategies made and they are all interesting. Well of course some managed to save the egg and some don't. My group managed to save the egg and we felt happy and relieved.

TED Talk Tim Brown: Tales of creativity and play

This video had made me realised that we should have confident in whatever we do. Even the smallest idea that we had, just share it with the world even though we get criticised. As what Tim Brown said, children are not afraid to share their ideas. Another thing that I learned from this video is about using our creativity. From asking the audience to draw within few seconds and then show it out. It's all about being confident and thinking out of the box.

Day 1

Coney Island is a great place for families to gather on weekends and enjoy themselves by walking around the park, cycling, or even just eating and looking at people.

I took a stroll at Coney Island with my camera and shoot some beautiful pictures. Like this beautiful tall tree.

This was shot near the beach of Coney Island.

This was shot at Pasir Ris park during sunset.

Another shot of the park during sunset. This time I tried taking a silhouette.

This is one of my most favourite shot when I was shooting at Pasir Ris Park. Beautiful sunset right in front of me and I'm glad to take a shot of it before it sets down.

Seeing families bond together on weekends makes me envy as I don't really have the opportunity to spend my weekends with my family. Although it makes me envy, seeing them laughing and having fun just makes me smile too. As I slightly went into the entrance of Coney Island, I saw amazing tall trees wondering how many years do they take to grow that tall. It really must be such a long process to get to where they are now. Same as for me. In life, I have to go through as much as what I want to achieve to right where I am now.
